Rushie Returns to Raro Sevens In Heaven Legend Eric Rush concedes ’16 years was too long’ to be away from the Cook Islands!  He was invited back to Rarotonga to help celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Rugby 7s in the Cook Islands.

CIRU - Cook Islands Rugby Union

CIRU AGM Held 13/04/2010

The CIRU AGM was held on 13/04/10 the following were elected as the new CIRU Executive committee for a 2 year term 2010-2012:

President: John Wichman
Vice President: Puai Wichman
Secretary: Lara Sadaraka
Assistant Secretary: Mike Henry
Treasurer: Mark Brown
Assistant Treasurer: Tom Wills

The meeting was well-attended with the only new addition to the CIRU Executive committee being Mike Henry of the Aitutaki Rugby Union. The Rarotonga Club 2010 season plans were also unveiled with the Rarotonga club season due to commence on Saturday 5th June commencing with 3 x weeks of pre-season 7’s, before the 15-a-side season kicks-off on Saturday 26th June. The domestic 7’s and 15’s season will run for a total of 22 x weeks with 9 x weeks of Rugby 7’s and 13 x weeks of 15-a-side rugby. As usual the season will end in the early-November with the hugely popular CIRU International 7’s Tournament. With Rugby 7’s now being an Olympic sport there will be an increased number of 7’s competitions throughout the season again with continued-development of junior, college-age and women’s rugby.
